I now have the pleasure of presenting From Detroit With Love – Oliverwho Factory who have captured the mood, emotion and dialogue of the podcast by capturing an image that represents each track within the mix to truly allow us to enter there world in pictures, let image be our medium of expression hand written by these two gifted artists.
This is what they say, we are also “the Oliverwho Factory.” Also known as OWF for those who may prefer the shortened version ;-D!
Please note the duo consists of two: people:
Darryl aka” Oliverwho” and Shone aka ” Shonie C/Factory”…
(Just for clarification purposes Oliverwho? [Darryl] was an Artist on BMG/Zoo)
We both write and produce the music, it is a team effort. Oliverwho plays most of the live instrumentation. Shonie vocals, arrangement..
Madd Chaise (chase) is also run by OWF. It is truly a labor of love. We sincerely love all types of dance music, and this the way in which we can explore and not limit ourselves to one particular genre!
2011 we will be devoting more time to our Djing skills. We feel it is time to return back to Oliverwho’s high school daze:o) Perfecting our live performances with Shonie playing more on the keys…and just having a ball! More appeareances, Leorosa’s release on Uzuri records, Hit it or Quit complilation. A very exciting and unique record on Planet E. Our own release in September and a few exclusives with some up and coming talented labels!
This is what i say Oliverwho Factory are Darryl and Shone a couple from Detroit with children, still living in the D and heavily involved locally and representing internationally when it comes to all things music related. OWF have featured on Tama Sumo’s Ostgut Ton compilation with Together and they also performed a live 1hr show in 2010 at Panorama Bar, Berlin. Galactic Transit released on Rush Hour last year was critically acclaimed from various camps and soon we can look forward to there 2nd release on Carl Craigs Planet – E imprint with Jealousy.
With OWF the sound has a defining quality not polished or computer enhanced, there is a distinct intersection of Shone’s writing and vocals arranged amongst Darryl’s production output which has a sense of immediacy, intricacy and steeliness. When I first heard the sounds and songs from OWF which resonated and stood out from everything else out there from there own label releases (Madd Chaise) including Rain 5th Wave here and also Rude Awakening Vol 2 here.
